Shannon is a senior Psychology major with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies through the Webers Honors College. She currently works as a research assistant at the Center for Healthy Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease with her mentor, Dr. Paul Gilbert. Shannon is passionate about research. Her research interests include neurodegenerative diseases, aging and memory. She is currently applying to PhD programs and has been accepted to two. She is a scholar of the IMSD (Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity) program, funded by the National Institute of Health. She works in the Psychology Undergraduate department as a Peer Adviser and belongs to various organizations on campus: Mortar Board, Golden Key, Psi Chi and the Pacific Islander Student Association. She enjoys working with freshman and transfer students and sharing her experience transitioning from community college to the university system. She also loves running, dancing, hiking, cooking, music festivals and spending time with her husband and two mini-dachshunds, Fred and Kai.
