Adam Shanks

I have been immersed in both music and law throughout my entire life. Raised in Memphis, TN by two lawyer parents, I clerked summers and weekends from early childhood through early adulthood. I moved to Colorado in 1997 and in 2000 formed a touring/production company, Roamteam Productions, promoting 150+ concerts throughout the Rocky Mountains with acts such as Fishbone, Digital Underground, Pharcyde, Tone Loc, Coolio, and many others. In 2001, a partner and I launched full color, pocket-sized, monthly entertainment publication iMAGE Magazine in Denver, growing it over 8 years into a publicly traded, cutting-edge regional media outlet. The popularity and reach of iMAGE Magazine, combined with monthly Roamteam tours, presented a unique opportunity to promote new artists, so I formed Response Records in 2003. From humble beginnings of regional acts and self-distribution, I grew Response over a 10-year span into a reputable indie label with legendary artists, extensive domestic and international tour & marketing networks, and distribution in over 20 countries through Redeye Distribution. The Response Records artist roster currently includes 7 Walkers, Stockholm Syndrome, Jerry Joseph, Super 400, Deep Shag, and features members of The Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, and The Meters. In 2013, after a decade in the record business, my wife Danielle and I were blessed with news that our first child was on the way. Serendipitously, a record slated to take up the majority of my year had suddenly fallen through, so at the time I was weighing alternative projects. After devoting so much of my life and time to the careers of others, I decided to instead invest in myself, my education, and my family. Soon after, I returned to college to complete my B.A. in Business Administration, graduating Cum Laude from Florida State in 2014 and earning a scholarship to Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, AL, where I enrolled in 2014 and will graduate in December of 2016.
