Aimon Sikder

I recently graduated from the University at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, having completed the accelerated nursing program in just one year. In addition to my academic achievements, I proudly serve in the United States Armed Forces as a member of the Army National Guard. Throughout my nursing education and military service, Ive had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of medical settings. I worked as a medic in the Army and served as a nurse assistant at the Northport Veterans Medical Center, providing care to veterans with complex health needs. I also supported a private client living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), where I developed skills in patient safety, mobility assistance, and PEG J-tube management for nutrition and medication administration. One of the most impactful experiences during nursing school was working at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a nationally recognized oncology hospital. There, I was introduced to the specialized field of oncology nursing. I gained insight into cancer care, including chemotherapy protocols, symptom management, and the critical role of compassionate communication with patients and families navigating challenging diagnoses. This experience deepened my understanding of holistic, patient-centered care and strengthened my desire to advocate for patients through every stage of treatment and recovery. Outside of nursing and military service, I have a strong passion for holistic health and nutrition. I enjoy creating meals that are both nutrient-dense and delicious, and Im always exploring new ways to support health through food. I also practice yoga regularly as part of my commitment to wellness and balance. Im constantly seeking opportunities to learn, grow, and refine my skills as both a nurse and a person.
