I believe that one of the greatest rewards of becoming an engineer is the ability to start with a simple idea, and to be able to turn that idea into a working product that can be used by many. It is ideas such as the iPhone and the Boeing 747 that fascinate me, as well as the rest of the world. The iPhone is one of the most powerful pieces of technology the average human can possess. It solves the problem of being able to communicate with others from across the world in seconds through telecommunications. The Boeing 747 also solves the problem of connecting people, however does it in a slightly different way. It is one of the worlds largest planes and can bring people thousands of miles in a matter of hours. These products were created to solve the problem of connecting its users from long distances. As engineers, it is our job to solve these day to day problems that people face, and that is what I intend to do with the knowledge and experience I have gained in my recent years.
To go from an idea, to a product in market, the process of design must be followed in order to successfully solve these problems. I have learned over my years in school, as well as my past internship, how to go about this process of taking an idea and turning it into a product in market. In school I have learned one of the main steps in the design process which is creating a prototype. I have learned multiple CAD softwares such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and CREO to express that idea in a 3D mockup. In my first internship, I implemented my education and applied it to create a prototype for a new project the company was working on.
Not only have I used my knowledge and talents to help other companies, but I have recently started my own company. I not only have plans to gain traction with this company, but also have plans to keep inventing new products, because as an engineer, I am always looking for ways to innovate and improve the day to day lives of people.
