October, 06 2023 - Verified by Hamilton CollegeI operated and designed activities designed to educate children and families about the exhibits of the aquarium, Long Island Sound, marine conservation, plastic pollution/marine debris, and citizen science. I also participated in citizen science projects like beach clean-ups and BioBlitzes to help scientists keep track of data on species diversity and marine debris. After a year of volunteering, I became a peer mentor and supervisor to other teens in the program. In May of 2023, I became an intern and organized, collected data, and designed activities for the summer ECHO season. I also did research on environmental justice initiatives like sustainable packaging as well as chemistry-related research into fireworks and plastic polymers.
