Antonio Illescas Amador
Northern Illinois University, Class of 2014
From Elgin, Ill.
I truly enjoy languages and different cultures; they're my passion. Hence my desire to become a foreign language teacher in German and Spanish.
I enjoy traveling to different countries and meeting new people. The institutions I've studies at sparked that passion in me for languages, and helped me get to where I am right now; right around the corner from graduation.
Having studied German at Larkin High School and done my first study abroad through it, really engaged me in the language and made me want to continue on with the language into college. Once at Elgin Community College, I continued learning German, which would later get me ready for when I'd transfer to NIU. Upon my transfer to NIU, I knew that teaching would be the right path for me, and with the help of the outstanding staff and professors that I've had throughout my career at NIU, my goals and dreams are becoming a reality. In addition, I also had the opportunity once again, to study abroad in Lüneburg, Germany in the summer of 2013.
