Ava McKinney

My name is Ava McKinney, I am a junior at Miami University majoring in Social Work and minoring in Disability Studies. I am very passionate when it comes to helping other people. I have shown this passion of mine through the various volunteer opportunities that I take part in, including Circle K International (CKI), Oxford's Women Care Center, and the Fireman's Cheer Fund. Each of these opportunities has given me a better understanding and perspective on various skills that I can use in the social work field. Along with my volunteering experience, I am also involved in different organizations around campus, including Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society, as well as captain of the Intramural volleyball team. I have also received the opportunity of being a part of the Marriage and Family Research Team with my Professor here at Miami. Through my various experiences as working as a sales associate in retail, I have gained numerous skills, such as communicating effectively with others, being able to work with a team, working hard at any task I am given, and keeping various things in an organized manner.
