Sarah Beaver

I am currently a student at Miami University, in the process of gaining my degree in applied science with a focus on Pre-Kindergarten education. I am in my second year, and am on track to graduate winter 2016. I have previously been a peer tutor through my high school lasting 3 years. This position gave future educators the opportunity to work with their peers within the classroom setting on areas they found difficult. I would educate students on proper note taking, verbally give tests, and assist in homework help. Through the Miami Education program I have been able to work within many of the local schools, such as Ridgeway Elementary in Mrs. Spaeth's pre-k classroom, also at Ridgeway Ms. Fuerbocker's Pre-k classroom, Fairfield west within a fourth grade classroom, and i also tutored a first grade student who had trouble concentrating on homework. I attended weekly homework sessions within the child's home, and worked on his assigned homework packet with him. My interest in being a future educator lies in my joy of working with children. I plan to continue my education at Miami University to work with primary students in the future.
