Blake Waring

College of Charleston, Class of 2021
From Charleston, South Carolina
I am an environmental science graduate student at the College of Charleston with a truly multidisciplinary range of research interests and skills. Currently I am a graduate research assistant under the NASA South Carolina Space Grant Consortium, working within the Santee-Cooper GIS Laboratory/ Lowcountry Hazards Center at The College. My responsibilities include processing large data sets in a variety of software, ranging from local LiDAR topographic information used for flood mapping to remotely sensed visual and topographic information on geologically recent activity on Mars. In addition to data processing I perform statistical analyses, synthesize and contextualize results, present my research at national/international conferences and engage in local community outreach to promote NASA and STEM disciplines.
