May, 22 2020 - Verified by College of the Holy CrossI completed administrative duties such as copying, scanning, picking up/returning library books, and managing office supplies.
At my agency, I assisted the attorneys and paralegals with research, communications, and data management. I communicated in Spanish and English via email, recruiting legal experts/foreign attorneys, process servers, and interpreters who could serve as resources for our cases. On a daily basis, I also interacted with clients, speaking in Spanish to offer them donated items that we received and recorded this on an Excel spreadsheet. I also took inventory and recorded any new donated items that the office received. In addition, I often helped with redacting names and personal information from older cases that may be used for future reference to train pro bono attorneys. I also helped keep attorney and client information up-to-date on spreadsheets and an online filing website by recording the information for new pro bono attorneys, transferring cases, calling the EOIR hotline and recording upcoming hearing dates, and keeping track of upcoming priority date filing deadlines. Finally, I was present during office meetings, trainings, and weekly case rounds, which allowed me to learn about immigration law and KIND as an organization.
I assisted with administrative responsibilities such as file organization, copying, and faxing. I also assisted with email communications and data management on excel.
