August, 13 2018 - Verified by Fort Lewis CollegeDuring my internship, I have completed online trainings such as, Native American Research Basic training, Health Privacy Issues for Researchers (CITI), Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention, JHSPH Basic Human Subjects Research Course, and Online Food Handler Training Certificate. I've been working with the Infectious Disease (ID) team and my duties include checking temperatures in the lab and pharmacy, which hold lab material, specimens, investigational products we receive. In the lab, I worked with bacteria JHU observes which is Haemophilus influenza, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitides, and Staphylococcus aureus.
I worked with the Administration department (ADMIN). My main duties were to help file, and organize documents. I worked under Admin but I also worked with other departments such as Maintenance, HOC (Housing counselors/Housing management), Finance, Project Management, and Boys & girls club. While interning at Housing I learned how to do work orders in Maintenance, I would file work orders and other documents. I also worked the front desk in the main office. At the front desk I answered phone calls, documented phone calls, transferred phone calls, and took messages, and helped individuals who came to front desk.
worked with Feast for the Future and NativeVision. Educated the community on the importance of eating healthy and educated kids who participated in NativeVision on exercise and the importance of exercise. I help with the farmers market, a local workshop with Nephi Craig, and the harvest festival with Nde Bikyaa (The Peoples Farm)
During my externship, I worked with Feast for the Futureand NativeVision. Feast for the Future (FFF) is a program that ensures American Indian children and communities have access to healthy and nutritious food. While working with the FFF program I help inform and educated the White Mountain Apache Tribal community on the importance of eating healthy and managing a healthy weight. FFF also held a few workshops with the local farm (Nde Bikyaa) the peoples farm on harvesting crops, planting and gardening. NativeVision is an after-school program wheretheyouth play sports, games and exercise. During NativeVision I would help watch the kids, play games with kids, and educate the kids on why its important to exercise and be active.
