Carson Sands
Rochester Institute of Technology, Class of 2018
From Rochester, N.Y.
Before I became a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, I lived in North Carolina with my family on a small farm-style compound complete with chickens, dogs, ducks, and one hamster. Before that I was working for Xtraplast, a subdivision of the company VC999 (packaging-materials.xtraplast.com). My responsibilities in Xtraplast varied from processing customer invoices to receiving machine parts, and personally managing the Kansas City Xtraplast warehouse. A generalized description of my work there could be boiled down to coordinating the shipping and receiving of materials commonly used in the food packaging industry. I am currently in the process of becoming a volunteer at the Rochester General Hospital, "the flagship of the Rochester General Health System," according to their website (www.rochestergeneral.org).
