To say that I have been sick my whole life is an understatement. There has NEVER been a day where I am not in pain. Not only is my story rare but it is extremely hard for doctors to understand. I am a chronically ill student who aspires to become a pediatric medical social worker to help kids who live in hospitals as I did. Losing my childhood to rare childhood illnesses that have continued into my adult life has a big part in why my life goal is to help other children. My story of being born in pain, being a baby who only knew discomfort and aches, is what drives me every day to fight for other kids. No child should have to spend their life in pain, and no child should have their pain ignored. I want to be a part of a support system for children and their families as they fight the unthinkable. I have been in that same spot, and I know just how much that support can mean.
