Courtney Richards

After the realization set in that I will not be making it as a world sensation pop-star, I spend most of my evenings hitting the books at Miami University. I find it highly rewarding when I put in effort and receive a benefit in return, which is why it is not surprising that I have a fairly high GPA. I am going into my senior year at Miami University and majoring in marketing with a minor in interactive media studies. I am eager to tackle this last year and find opportunities to continue to grow both professionally and personally. I truly believe that everyone should be required to work a blue collar job at least once in their lifetime. Last summer I worked in a warehouse and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. This job taught me that it's not always what you do, but who you work with. You are never better than any job title. This love I have for people led me to start my career out in the banking industry, which has continued to drive my search for success. As an intern, I partnered with leaders to help create new projects and increase efficiencies here at Fifth Third Bank. I am also focused on putting my passions and skills to good use by supporting organizations and projects that I really care about. At Miami, I was the social media host for an organization called "Colleges Against Cancer". We put on many events to bring awareness and raise money in order to fight and find a cure for this disease. I also wrote for The Odyssey at Miami University. My first article I wrote got the most shares out of all the articles written for that week. I will always have a love and passion for writing. I think it's pretty neat how you can really tap into people's emotions and relate to one another - after all that is what we are put on Earth for!
