Cristian Dohler Rodas

Cristian Dohler is a self-taught flutist from Silver Spring, Maryland who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Flute Performance with a minor in music business administration under the private instruction of Keith Hanlon at Frostburg State University as a recipient of a Talent in the Arts scholarship. As a student, Cristian is a member of the Honors Program and serves as the Music Director, Secretary and Social Committee Chair of the Xi Omega chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc. As a musician, Cristian plays first piccolo with the FSU Marching Bobcats, is the principal flutist and alternate piccolo of the FSU Wind Ensemble, performs on C flute with the FSU Flute Choir, and has presented master classes for high school students participating in Tri-State Honor Band hosted by the department. In addition to ensembles, Cristian performs regularly as a soloist for the department's Student Recital Series and "Student for a Day" recitals every year and has been regarded as "a dynamic and convincing performer with an equally powerful stage presence" by audiences. Outside of school, Cristian has been asked to perform at various churches in the Frostburg and Cumberland areas, is an active member of the choir at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Silver Spring, Maryland as a soloist and chamber musician, and serves as a "bandaide" and orchestra musician for the "interPLAYcompany Band" of Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland. Cristian is also an active competitor in local and regional flute competitions and festivals such as The Flute Society of Washington's Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair and the Richmond Flute Fest. After completing his Bachelor's degree, Cristian plans to earn his Master's in Flute Performance at a conservatory or equally-prestigious university graduate program and then proceed to perform as either an orchestral musician or a soloist all over the world.
