Dana Gardner

Dana Gardner (South Carolina) is a proud parent and Family Voice Leader with Safe Babies Court, where she advocates for families to have a second chance at permanency with their children. Dana worked with the Safe Babies Court Team for two years in both Orangeburg and Charleston Counties, focusing on supporting families in achieving reunification and long-term stability. Her work centers on lifting the voices of parents and ensuring they are treated with dignity, empathy, and fairness throughout the child welfare process. In addition to her professional work, Dana volunteers extensively within her community, dedicating her time to initiatives that promote healing, family preservation, and meaningful systemic change. She is currently pursuing a degree in Human Services at Southern New Hampshire University, driven by her passion to help redesign systems that often overlook the very families they are meant to serve. Dana brings not only lived experience but also leadership and a deep commitment to equity and justice. Her strength lies in her ability to connect with people, foster trust, and advocate powerfully for those whose voices are often unheard. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new places, socializing with friends, and watching mystery shows. Dana is excited to serve on the FRIENDS National Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) Parent Advisory Council, where she will continue to use her voice, experience, and advocacy to support families and build stronger, more compassionate communities
