Daniel Dilts
University of Findlay, Class of 2014
From Bellefontaine, OH
I was born and raised in Bellefontaine, OH. I attended Bellefontaine High School and graduated in 1999. My college career is difficult to explain. I attended Wright State University for several terms (full time, half time, part time), studying Environmental Health Science, while still living at home (60 minute commute). While attending college, I also worked at Honda R&D Americas in the Safety, Environmental, Health and Security department as a primary or backup for all EHS and security activities - SPCC, SWPPP, safety programs, security technology, etc.
I didn't finish my degree at Wright State, but acquired 6+ years of EHS experience from my time at Honda. Then through life events and a turn of the economy I re-located to Salt Lake City and took a job in business at a medical laboratory. While I was there, I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Western Governors University. I figured a B.S. in Business, combined with my EHS experience, would make me more well-rounded for any occupation.
I missed the EHS field, however, so I signed up for the M.S. in Environmental Management with Findlay and have since broken back into the EHS field after being away for 6 years. I am the lone EHS personnel at Hoyt Archery, the world's largest archery manufacturer and have recently been promoted to the position of Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.
I hope the Master's Degree and what will be over 9 years experience in EHS will lead me to an EHS Manager position at a multi-site facility where I can lead a team of 4-6 individuals. Not only do I enjoy EHS tasks, but I love developing and managing personnel.
