Denise Brumley

Daughter to a military veteran, I was born in Augsburg, Germany in 1982. We moved to the United States--Savannah, Georgia--on my third birthday. In 2001, I graduated from Life Center Academy in Burlington County, New Jersey. In 2008, I welcomed my daughter into the world. She is now a bubbly first grader and we often spend weekends camping with her Girl Scout troop. I began my college career Spring semester 2013 at Gwinnett Technical College (GTC) in Lawrenceville, Georgia. During this time, I was employed as a debt negotiator with Riexinger & Associates Attorney at Law. The company dissolved in August 2013 and I was laid off. I spent almost four years with the firm and thoroughly enjoyed my position. During the two years I was enrolled at GTC, I was a member of The National Technical Honors Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. In 2014, I was honored to be the recipient of GTC's 2014 Outstanding Student Award. This award is given to one student per department annually. Spring, 2014, I completed an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a concentration in Accounting. Along with my Associates Degree, I earned 5 certifications including, but not limited to, Quickbooks and Certified Payroll Specialist. In January of 2015, I transferred to Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. I am currently a double major--with concentrations in Accounting and Finance--with an in--house GPA of 4.19. My anticipated graduation date is May 2017.Outside of academics, I sit on the board as Treasurer for the Sigma Alpha Pi chapter of National Society of Leadership & Success at GSU. Twice a year, we hold a "Hearts for the Homeless" drive where students are encouraged to donate and/or collect gently-used goods and engage with and support the homeless community surrounding GSU. I also run a community book club, "Tucker Bookworms", with over 80 members.
