Diana Cotrone is a Sophomore at the Crane School of Music- SUNY Potsdam. There she studies clarinet as a Music Education major, Music Business minor, and Special Education in Music concentration. At school, she serves as a SUNY Potsdam Student Ambassador, a member of the Crane Student Association, and a proud sister of Sigma Alpha Iota, the International Music Fraternity for Women. She has recently been chosen as the President for the 2014-15 school year in her chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota. She has previously held the position of community service chairmen for the spring '14 semester. During that semester, she was also the Principal of Crane Concert Band. She has participated in the HOBY-Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference, NYSTEA- New York State Theatre Educator’s Association Conference, and NYSCAME- New York State Council of Administrators for Music Education Conference. Diana joined Girl Scouts at the young age of five and continues to stay involved with it. She has received her bronze, silver, and gold award in addition to lifetime membership. She continues to promote her love of Girl Scouting while away at school by being a NYPENN Potsdam Girl Scout daisy troop leader. Diana recently had the privilege to compete in the Miss New York International pageant as Miss Deer Park International 2013. She received Second Runner-Up, Most Photogenic, and People’s Choice award. There she promoted her personal platform, Girl Scouts. She spent 2013 sharing her platform through numerous events that included personal workshops for girls, holiday parties, badge earnings, weekly meetings, speaking to girls, and community service events. She continues to work on new ideas for the upcoming year to serve the community and her school. Her aspirations is to one day be a public speaker and future educator.
