As a professional speaker I provide Education By Entertainment programs for businesses, professional societies, colleges, universities, and schools on Customer Service, Careers, Leadership, and Human Factors/Ergonomics. My presentations are useful, educational, informative, interactive, and fun. Participant comments and ratings are excellent. I am, by training, a psychology PhD with a specialization in designing products, systems, solutions, and services so that they will be easy for people to use. I have worked as a human factors professional, manager, and corporate coordinator at IBM. My competency in this area is recognized by my Certification as a Human Factors Professional (CHFP) by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics. My substantial and unique contributions to the field have been recognized by my title as a Fellow in the American Psychological Association (APA), the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). I was the first chair of National Ergonomics Month (NEM). My performance in founding NEM was recognized with the Oliver Keith Hansen Outreach Award from HFES. I spent 23 years working at IBM. My positions included managing technical learning and new employee orientation world wide. I have also managed IBM's external employee education program in the United States and career coaching in North Carolina. Two of my learning programs, one of which I managed (new employee orientation) and one of which I designed (Blue Opportunities) won major awards from professional organizations (ASTD Excellence in Practice Award and SHRM Innovative Business Solution Award). I am also an outstanding educator and leader of educators. I offer consulting services to business/industry in Human Factors/Ergonomics and Human Resources/Learning sharing the expertise gained from my education as well as my corporate experience. I consult with individuals on Career Preparation and Development.
