Elizabeth Upshur

As a student worker for the Languages and Literature Department I report directly to the Administrative Assistants Mrs. McNabb and Mrs. Clark. I organize and distribute mail for the professors and faculty, help answer phones and organize files, as well as copy and disperse documents. I also occasionally manage the computer labs for students to complete homework.

As part of my CECA scholarship I work personally with Dr. Andrea Spofford, Assistant Professor of Creative Writing and Poetry. I assist in grading student work such as quizzes and poetry, honing my editing and workshop skills. I am also available to make copies, spreadsheets, and circulate promotional materials for both Dr. Spofford and the CECA. I have also attended English conferences such as the Meacham conference and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) to further hone my skills in writing, editing and scholarship

As a Party Helper I report directly to Cheryl Rech. I assist with the latter half of the birthday party experience. I help set up the tables and decorations, and answer any questions parents might have. I also assist with serving refreshments for the guests and keeping the party on schedule so it flows smoothly. I also work part time over the summer with Let It Shine's summer camp. I work with our preschoolers, rotating between super fun events such as trampolines, pool, outside time, tumble track, obstacle course, zip line, movies and group games. I make sure that my preschoolers have a funtastic,safe and interactive day so they always want to come back for more! They especially love our theme days, where we all get to dress up as princesses/heroes, gladiators, etc.
