The Castle Arts
DePauw Community Service CoordinatorAugust 2018 - PresentI acted as the liaison between the Castle Arts and DePauw University. The Castle Arts is a non-profit based in Putnam Co. that partners with community organizations and university students to create and facilitate workshops that compliment the curriculum of students in the local schools. The goal of the workshops are to "maximize the opportunity for creative problem-solving, to enhance the curriculum, to nurture self-expression, to honor varied learning styles, and to encourage essential 21st Century skills." In this position, my main task was to recruit university students to create and facilitate the Castle workshops in the local schools. During the Fall semester 2018, I recruited 101 university student volunteers to facilitate 10 Castle Arts workshops in elementary and middle schools around Putnam County. Other responsibilities involved managing a budget of $100 which was used to purchase supplies for workshops and for volunteer appreciation cards. Lastly, in order to work efficiently as a liaison between two organizations, I maintained consistent communication with the Castle Arts non-profit leadership via email and by attending four monthly coordinator meetings.
