Felicia Gordon

Responsibilities included teaching classes of up to 14 campers during an eight week summer camp in the ceramics department. I taught classes of 2nd – 8th graders the basics of throwing pottery on the wheel, trimming and altering their pieces, and glazing. I taught three classes every day and supervised three others while the other ceramics specialist taught her classes. I devised lesson plans and weekly schedules, loaded and unloaded the bisque and glazing kilns during firings, helped clean the wheel, tools, and studio area before and after every class, and prepped the studio for upcoming classes

Responsibilities included assisting the art teachers during a two week long summer camp for children aged 6-11. I have worked under Celia Nobleman in the Sculpture Studio and helped the children make sculptures out of paper mache, foam, wood, and found objects. I have worked under Samantha Stankiewicz in the Ceramics Studio and helped with clay handbuilding, plaster molding, and glazing. And I have worked with Donna Dolby in the Printmaking Studio where I helped the children make prints out of linoleum carvings, stamps. etchings, and other techniques. For both weeks each year I supervised lunch time and recess, provided activities and games for students during breaks, and led students through studio rules and tours and ensured everyone was cooperative during fire drills
