Elder Gerod K. Macon, Sr. was born March 19, 1976. He is the son of Mr. Gerald Love and Ms. Vernita Macon. He is the husband of Mrs. Lakiesha G. Macon and father of Gerod, Jr.. Elder Gerod K. Macon received his formal education in the Orleans Parish Public School System, graduating from the O. Perry Walker Senior High School. Elder Macon continued his education attending several post-secondary education institutions, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies from the Darryl S. Brister Bible College & Theological Seminary in the Spring 2004. He is a fall 2007 graduate of Southern University at New Orleans earning a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education. Elder Macon was called into the preaching ministry in March 1996 under the leadership of his spiritual father Bishop Darryl S. Brister. On Sunday, March 23, 1997 he preached his first message, This is only a Test and was licensed to preach the gospel on Sunday, March 24, 1998. It was at this time that Elder Macon began to serve as one of the key armorbearers to Bishop Brister. Elder Macons Ministry continued to develop as he was assigned to serve as the Pastor of Singles in January 1999. As Elder Macon continued to avail himself to the voice of God and his Pastor, God continued to do great and marvelous things. In February 2001 Elder Macon was ordained as an Elder in the Lords Church. Elder Macon currently serves as the 1st Assistant Pastor of the Beacon Light Baptist Church of New Orleans, LA under the direction of Bishop Darryl S. Brister. As the 1st Assistant Pastor following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, the challenges have been many, but through the grace of God great things are taking place within the ministry. Elder Macons leadership aids Bishop Brister is taking the people of God from faith to faith and from glory to glory. Elder Macon also served as the 1st Assistant Pastor of the Beacon Light Baptist Church of Hammond, LA from September 2004 to August 2005 under the leadership of Bishop Darneal F. Johnson, III. Elder Macon is a committed and dedicated man of God whose hearts desire is to see the lives of the people of God, go to the next level as a result of receiving and hearing the word of God. Along with the ministerial responsibility that Elder Macon carried by serving as the 1st Assistant Pastor of the ministry in Hammond, he also served as the Associate Dean of the Darryl S. Brister Bible College & Theological Seminary, and Singles Ministry Pastor at the International Baptist Cathedral and Hammond locations respectively. Elder Macons testimonial scripture is I Corinthians 15:58, Be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as you do know, your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Elder Macon is employed as an Assistant Principal in Jefferson Parish Public School and currently pursuing the Doctor of Education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. Elder Macons research interests include exploring the school leadership and spirituality.
