Nicole Golden

Majored in Educational Leadership, Minored in School Turnaround
University of Tampa, Class of 2020
From Miami, FL
I was born and raised in Miami,FL where I discovered my passion for working with children. Since I first embarked on my journey as an educator, I have been dreaming of teaching children to discover a love for learning. I am delighted and honored to have reached this dream in the District of Columbia Public Schools then continuing on my journey in Hillsborough Couty Public Schools. Central to my educational philosophy is my belief that every child is GOLDEN, capable of greatness and learning. It is my pleasure and privilege to help each GOLDEN Scholar discover his/her genius and gifts. Before becoming an elementary school teacher, I was a full-time college student. My educational background is the reason I instill in scholars that college is our big goal, our classroom is known as KinderCollege, where all scholars are GOLDEN. I began my college career at The Honors College, Miami-Dade, where I earned my Associates degree in Exceptional Student Education. I then transferred to the illustrious Howard University, where I earned my bachelors in Early Childhood. I concluded my college career at The George Washington University in 2010 earning a Masters of Art in Early Childhood Special Education with an emphasis on Literacy. While at George Washington University I completed my Cohort student-teacher residency, at Barnard Elementary School. My most recent, 2018-2020, cohort experience was with Hillsborough County Public Schools, Turnaround Leadership Program through the University of Tampa. I earned a Masters in Educational Leadership focused on School Turnaround Leadership. This school year marks my 12th being a lead classroom teacher, but my 1st year teaching online. I spend much of my spare time engaging in professional development, exploring innovating ways to make learning fun in my classroom. When Im not in the classroom I enjoy traveling home to Miami to spend time with my family and embarking on adventures with your daughter. Many may call me a Kindergarten teacher, but my classroom was known as KinderCollege. Teaching KinderCollege has been humbling, challenging, and exciting. Nowhere else can you find encouraging words like, "Ms. Golden, you have crazy gold hair!" or "Why do you always wear that (gold) sweater? Nowhere else can you find more love and smiles and hear squeals of delight than from a KinderCollege scholar. This is a wonderful age to teach because they are so eager to learn and have so much to share. I look forward to any opportunity strengthening & further my growth professionally as an Educator & Personally as an individual. I am grateful for the parents who have entrusted their most precious jewels, their child, with me. I am even more thankful for the individuals who were blessed to be a blessing to my life, by serving as a mentor, coach, role-model, inspiration, and motivator. I AM Miss Golden!
