I hold a Ph.D. in Folklore from Indiana University, an M.A. in Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University, and a B.A. in Communication Studies with a non-major option in Folklore from Penn State. I have been teaching at Arkansas State University since 2002, where I specialize in folklore and heritage studies.

I teach in the Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages, where I specialize in folklore and southern studies. I also coordinate the undergraduate minor in Folklore, and I work within the university doctoral program in Heritage Studies.
