Gustavo is a registered architect and urbanist in Brazil with design experience in residential buildings, large scale retail and sports facilities. From 2008 to 2014 Gustavo was the head of Studio Bauen Architecture Practice and was a faculty member in charge of architecture theory and design studios at the Pontific Catholic University and at the Federal University of Goias. He has worked with sports architecture since 2008 in projects of stadiums for municipalities and college multiuse sports arenas. He has also worked as a consultant with Pritzker Prize architect Paulo Mendez da Rocha on the design proposal of Serra Dourada Stadium as a venues for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Gustavo has earned his degree in architecture and urbanism from Pontific Catholic University in Brazil, and his Master in Architecture from University of Sao Paulo in 2012, when he received a full scholarship to conduct a research about the role of sports facilities as urban regenerators. In 2017 he has earned a Masters in Computational Design from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he is currently a fully funded PhD student and a design researcher at the Stadia Lab. His current research is focused on the development of computational design methodologies which will use data-science concepts on the analysis of large-scale urban stadium projects and the relationship of this building typology to the city. . Stadia as a building typology has been a central object of my career as an architect at academic and practical levels. Currently Im a PhD student at the Georgia Institute of Technology focused at the research of a design methodologies that can be applied to stadia in order to achieve beneficial legacies. Im a member of the Stadia Lab where scientific design analysis is developed producing data that can improve the effects of stadia on its built environment. Professionally Ive worked with stadia proposals for the FIFA World Cup, stadiums and arenas for private and public clients.
