Isata Sesay is a Radiation and Health Physics Technician at the Environmental Health and Safety(EHS) University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), where she ensures regulatory compliance, radiation safety, and laboratory oversight. She brings extensive international and academic experience to the field of nuclear safety.
Prior to joining UMB, Isata served as a Scientific Officer at the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority in Sierra Leone, where she was involved in national regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement. She also lectured at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where she taught courses in radiation physics and environmental protection.
Isata holds a Bachelor of Science with honours in Physics from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Data Analytics at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), where her focus is on integrating data science techniques into radiation safety operations. She is also a fellow of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), having participated in international programs on nuclear safety and regulatory development.
