Ivrol Hines
Born in Jamaica, W.I., I migrated to the United States at age 14. I attended Thomas Jefferson High School in my new hometown Brooklyn, NY. Upon graduation, I was named "Role Model of the Year for 1993" by the City Council of New York City for academic and extracurricular achievement. I attended Pace University for two years, however, prior to graduating I enlisted in the US Marine Corps. As a Marine, I served as a combat correspondent, specializing in print journalism. I won two Thomas Jefferson and three Marine Corp first place awards for "Best Civilian Enterprise Newspaper" when I became editor of the Rotovue Newspaper at Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, N.C. I also won a Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal for my work on the publication. After four years of service to our country, I left the Marine Corp upon promotion to the rank of sergeant, and return to New York City. I started a biweekly newspaper in April 2001 and published for 12 years. It was a great experience. In 2012, I relocated to Cumming, Ga with my wife and two kids. Today, I'm embarking upon a new career. I plan to complete a Bachelors in Political Science and then pursue a JD at the Andrew Young Law School.
