By understanding the history of intelligence from its ancient world underpinnings to twenty-first century wizardry, AFIOs key objectives and principles are to support todays needs and foster forward thinking for: 1) A strong and responsible national intelligence establishment able to manage growing threats and issues in todays globally intertwined environment. 2) Understanding of the intellectual, political, business and public communities for an effective and cohesive national intelligence infrastructure. 3) Strategies in intelligence operations that support leaders at the local, state and federal levels as they make timely security decisions. 4) Stimulation of interest in the career needs of US Intelligence and its contractors, among a wide range of students at high schools and universities around the country. 5) Execution of effective national policies that advance the defense and security of the country, its citizens and its allies.

Phi Delta Phi is the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States, predating even the American Bar Association. It was founded in 1869 at the University of Michigan School of Law by four law students, who at the urging of their faculty, endeavored to create an association that would foster scholarship, civility, and ethical conduct in our profession. Since that time, Phi Delta Phi has grown beyond the borders of the United States to Canada, Latin America and Europe. Phi Delta Phi celebrates academic excellence and embraces the finest attributes of professionalism and scholarship. Since our founding, Phi Delta Phi has emphasized to students and lawyers alike the importance of our calling. Active membership is drawn from those students of the law who not only have shown themselves companionable, but have manifested ability and industry in legal study. Membership in Phi Delta Phi is truly a mark of honor and distinction that follows one throughout life.

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians interested in the current state of the legal order. It is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. The Society seeks both to promote an awareness of these principles and to further their application through its activities.
