Hi there! My name is Jennie. I love reading and I love animals. I actually trained a Guide Dog for the Blind during high school. I also love music! I've played the piano for 12 years and have been in a choir since elementary school. I was the Madrigals Vice President my senior year. I also started learning how to play the harmonica and the cymbals during high school. I currently have an undeclared major, but I'm thinking about going into a career with animals, whether that's animal rescue, a zoo vet, an animal trainer, or anything in between. I'm excited to start my college career!

Theater

I participated in my school's theater department for 2 years. I was in the musical "Newsies" where I played a newsie, a nun, and a bowery beauty. I was also in the play "Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic" where I played Ginny and was in the ensemble." My main responsibilities were to memorize lines, organize props, and help build sets.

Madrigals Choir

I was a member of the advanced choir for all four years of high school. During that time, I was the Alto Section Leader, Music Department Historian, and the Madrigals Vice President. My main responsibilities included leading the choir when the director was absent, planning fundraisers and parties, taking pictures at all music department events, updating all Madrigals social media platforms, designing Madrigals t-shirts, and sending out reminders and notifications to the choir.

I was a captain for 2 years. My main responsibilities were designing gear, planning parties and fundraisers, participating in and setting up all swim team events, assigning awards to swimmers, leading practice when the coach was gone, and having a good attitude and being a good example for all of our swimmers.

Guide Dogs for the Blind Puppy Trainer

I was a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind. I raised and trained and Guide Dog puppy for a year and a half. During this time, I trained this dog the basic commands (sit, stay, down, stand), how to walk with a leash, how to have excellent house and car behaviors, how to behave in crowds and on public transportation, etc... Once he returned to Guide Dogs for the Blind and received specialized training, he graduated as an official Guide Dogs (only about 30% of dogs in this program pass) and is currently working in North Carolina.
