Jillian Smolinski

I am a Senior pursuing Marketing at Miami University's Farmer School of Business, as well as a minor in French. I am seeking an exciting full-time position working with a company where I can apply my knowledge in the marketing sector while still continuing to learn about real life hiccups and applications. My interest in Marketing stems from a curiosity about the psychology behind consumers choices and preferences in products and services. I enjoy trying to figure out the reasoning behind a purchase and solving issues on how to make the entire experience more consumer-friendly. Currently, I hold both treasurer and marketing chair for a newer on campus organization called Students for the Promotion of Writing (or Spew, as we so lovingly call it). With these positions, I am learning how to budget and plan large scale events such as the Oxford Writing Festival during which we bring authors to campus to give speeches and host workshops. One of my beliefs is to be well rounded in knowledge. I know that I have much to learn in most aspects of life, but I am excited to learn whatever life has to offer. One of such lessons is a social dance class I am took last semester; we learned the basics to several dances such as swing, waltz and meringue, and with these dance steps we learn who we are. We learn to pick up moves and ideas on the fly, adapt to what our dance partner throws at us, and work in sync with a person we have never met before. I am excited to learn!
