Joshua Shimp

Student leader for two UNIV 100 groups, with two different faculty leaders. I prepared lectures and discussion questions, led presentations and discussion groups, and assisted the faculty instructors in all aspects of each class. An important part of this role was easing new students concerns and fears as they transition into college life.

I encourage and maintain a sense of community and safety among residents, particularly in the freshman Honors College dorm. An important part of this role is being available to help academically bright students successfully adapt to the heightened expectations and challenges of college coursework, and to assist with the unique emotional challenges these students may face.
