Kyla Smith

I am a intelligent, hard-working, and inspirational Graduate student at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Tougaloo College in 2014, where I attended on a full Presidential Scholarship, all four years, and graduated Suma Cum Lade. I believe in the power of God and Counseling. As a Jackson native, studying Mental Health Counseling in hopes of becoming a Clinical/Forensic Psychologist, I understand the value of learning how to cope with personal issues, as I was bullied as a teen. Diagnosed with Epilepsy at the tender age of 13, I am also an advocate for the National Epilepsy Foundation, and giving back. I volunteer at my church as a youth mentor, where I serve as a listening ear for children that need an outlet. I am certain that God makes no mistakes, and by simply fighting another day, you have accomplished something great. I have received many accolades for my studies, including Who's Who of America, Presidential Scholar, and President of the Psychology Club. However, it doesn't stop her from moving forward to even greater accomplishments. A former cheerleader, I am both brains and beauty. When I don't have my head buried in a book doing research in my subject of choice, I enjoy traveling, acting, listening to music, and of course, reading. Upon Graduation of my Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling, I hope to become a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist, in order to be a voice for adults and children that need one and to help all people with traumatic events and everyday pains or problems, journey through this thing we call life.
