My name is Kacey Dutton and I am studying occupational therapy at the University of New Hampshire. Torn between a love of science, a proclivity for creative endeavors, and a desire to impact the lives of those around me in meaningful ways, I found my passions beautifully melded in the profession of occupational therapy. I have always been enamored by the archetype of the wizard, the wizened figure who stands just outside the action, stepping in where needed for the purpose of guidance and assistance. It captures the role I feel one takes as a therapist. We provide resources, direction, and support. We facilitate the action or occupations; but the real magic comes not from our hands, but out of the narrative the client is creating for themselves by doing. I look forward to the continued development of my skills as a therapist so that some day I might take on that role myself.
