Throughout my senior year I worked with two classmates to complete our senior research titled "Which Coaching Styles are Most Beneficial in Max Strength Testing Between Male and Female Athletes?" We completed the literature review, methods, and received IRB approval in the Fall 2023 semester. In the Spring 2024 semester, we complete pre-testing, data collection, data analysis, and presented our research findings at SCHOLAR (Student Celebration Honoring Our Latest Academic Research) Day in the form of a poster presentation. We did not find any statistical significance, but our findings suggest that (1) athletes performed 3+ repetitions better with authoritative coaching, (2) saying something is better than saying nothing at all, and (3) the athletes had the most variability with the exercise they were least familiar with, potentially identifying that coaching styles are moreso listened to during unfamiliar movements.

I presented my independent research titled "Examining the Effects of Landing Kinetics with a Sport-Specific Secondary Task" at the Wittenberg University Undergraduate Research Symposium during the poster presentation session on Friday, April 12th at Wittenberg University. I conducted this research beginning in the Spring 2023 semester and finished when I presented my research in this Spring 2024 semester. I conducted data collection during the Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 semesters. I completed data analysis and statistical analysis between the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. Some statistical significance was found identifying that athletes were able to produce more force at a quicker pace with the secondary task than they were without the secondary task (and focusing on their CMJ form).
