Karen Mayen

I aspire to become a high school history teacher someday. I have always had a knack for teaching and working with students, and I have always had an increased interest in history. I was the kid who started reading historical nonfiction books in elementary school. I believe history is important because it teaches us about the past and helps us to understand why things are the way they are today. By learning history, we can recognize the patterns that led to the horrible events in history, and recognize the repetition of these actions and stop it before history ends up repeating itself. I want to help my students understand the world in the eyes of the past, present, and future. I also want to be the teacher that students know they can count on for anything.
