While teachers in all grades can have this impact on students, I believe that the in the early childhood years establishing a strong foundation of curiosity, confidence and a love of learning is where it all begins. Early childhood teachers have the opportunity to create an environment that encourages each students discovery of their own unique strengths and interests. These young students typically bring to the classroom a completely open mind, an unfiltered view of the world, and an eagerness to learn. As a teacher, I would view it as my responsibility to ensure each student leaves my classroom believing in themselves and knowing that they can do whatever they set their mind to. Having the opportunity to make a difference at this stage of a childs development is exciting to me.
