As a morale captain, I am in charge of keep my team (a group of students) dancing for the full six hours to dance for the kids who are too ill or unable to dance. Last year, we hosted our first ever Dance Marathon and raised over $10,000 for the hospital. Morale captains are chosen to be leader and a person to inspire others, which is a role that I have successfully filled and will continue to fill.

The six-week leadership program focused on developing leadership skill in first-year students. Some of the skills I obtained were working with others, valuing a diverse community preparation to make a difference at Wittenberg, and be an effective leader before and after graduation. From this program, I developed into an individual that was seen as an approachable and a reliable source on campus.

Giving tours to perspective students, directing perspective students to on-campus activities and locations, aid with scholarship days and athletic events. This on-campus job opportunity has been one of the most beneficial because it has helped me improve on my communication skills with strangers and coworkers. Not only am I able to relay important and factual knowledge about the school I attend and work for, but also I am able to make a connection with each individual I meet.

I work for Stephanie Enright in the Biology Department, setting up labs for the introductory biology labs, conducting experiments, and practicing lab safety. I have become aware with the procedures of handling dangerous chemicals as well as the safety precautions required. I has have handled live sea anemones and sea urchins, through lab preparation and the transportation of these organisms.
