Katherine Sienko

Kate Sienko is a junior at Tufts University majoring in English and pursuing a minor in Communications & Media Studies. Kate is passionate about storytelling, media and teamwork and has experience in many creative realms including photography, film, storytelling, and advertising. Currently, Kate is working as a Summer Associate at Nickerson PR, a public relations and marketing firm located in Waltham, MA. Over the past year, Kate has worked on two major projects: TEDxTufts and The Program for Narrative and Documentary Practices. Selected as a member for the Marketing and Publicity team for TEDxTufts, Kate was responsible for creating the brand of and developing marketing strategies for the first-ever TEDx event at Tufts University. She also assisted in managing social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the event. As a member of the Program for Narrative and Documentary Practices (a sub-program of Tufts Institute for Global Leadership) for the past two semesters, Kate has pursued fieldwork in Chelsea and Everett, Massachusetts and has compiled her photojournalistic material into multimedia narrative projects. Through her independent work, class workshops, and tutorials with her instructor, she has learned the essential components to a powerful story, and more importantly, she has become a better listener, analyzer, and researcher in order to be an effective storyteller. email: katherine.sienko@tufts.edu
