Majoring in Polymer Science
The University of Akron
From Addison, IL
I am currently a Ph.D. graduate research assistant in the Polymer Science Department at the University of Akron. I perform research advised by Professor Chrys Wesdemiotis broadly focused on employing multidimensional mass spectrometry analyses in novel applications, innovating new methodologies for precise and accurate sample analysis, and expanding mass spectrometry methods to unique polymeric systems and sample types. I collaborate with researchers and staff in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, and Chemistry, as well as many industrial partners. My major laboratory roles include analyzing multidisciplinary industrial and academic service samples of ranging complexity, routine maintenance of lab instrumentation, detailing logbooks of sample and instrument history, website designer, and laboratory and facility tour guide/instructor. Prior to The University of Akron, I studied Specialized Chemistry at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign while balancing undergraduate thesis research in synthetic polymer and small molecule chemistry, and working part-time in the Chemistry Department's demonstration and teaching lab. I also spent my summers working in a basic analytical lab at SWD Inc. Specialties: Mass Spectrometry (ESI, MALDI, ASAP, CI, APCI, HRMS, MS/MS, Q/ToF, ToF/ToF) Chromatography (UPLC, GPC) Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry (IM/MS) Method Development Polymer Chemistry Analytical Chemistry Polymer/Oligomer Characterization Molecular Modeling and Simulations (Materials Studio, MOBCAL, MatLab) Purification/Extraction Techniques
