Kimberley Nelson

I'm 35 years old and a single mother to superfetation twins. I have always been drawn to making a positive difference in people's lives. This passion led me to pursue a degree in social services. I have a deep desire to advocate for and support individuals and communities facing various challenges. I have been actively involved in volunteer work since high school, working with organizations that focus on providing assistance to marginalized populations, such as homeless shelters, domestic violence centers, and community outreach programs. These experiences have opened my eyes to the various issues and inequalities present in our society, igniting a sense of empathy and a call to action within me. Throughout my studies, I have developed a strong understanding of social policies, human behavior, and the dynamics within communities. I have honed my communication skills and learned how to effectively listen, empathize, and engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I believe that building meaningful relationships and establishing trust is crucial in the field of social services. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have also undertaken internships at various social service agencies. These experiences have allowed me to gain practical skills such as conducting assessments, developing intervention plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. I have seen firsthand the impact that social services can have on individuals' lives, and it has only reinforced my commitment to this field. Outside of my studies and work, I am an advocate for self-care and mental health. I believe that taking care of oneself is essential in order to effectively support others. I enjoy practicing meditation, yoga, and spending time in nature to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Overall, my passion for making a positive impact, combined with my education and experiences, has prepared me to embark on a rewarding career in social services. I am excited to continue learning, collaborating with others, and dedicating my efforts to enhancing the overall well-being of individuals and communities.
