Kyzjaa Reid was recognized for graduating
I am a 16 year old early graduate who recently graduated from Monroe Comprehensive High School located in Albany, GA. When people ask me my age and I tell them they act shocked as if I told them the sky is Yellow and clouds are purple. Before beginning this journey Ive had teachers and even counselors who would doubt me and say I couldn't do it because of the work load. At one point I was even talked out of graduating early and was told to wait. Being a child and hearing that from an adult I listened and went along with it but as days went by what I was told just wouldnt sit right with me. The next day I rode with my grandmother to my school and told them no matter the work load or how hard you MIGHT think it is, I can do it. I made my final decision and was placed in the 12th grade. The COVID-19 pandemic was still going around at the time, so I was a strictly virtual student. I started off with 9 classes (between Edgenuity, Albany Technical College, and high school courses) finished two of them and ended the school year off with 7 classes. Through out the school year, it took a lot of studying, emailing, and re-doing assignments to maintain an A/B Honor Roll and come with a 3.3 GPA. I am currently enrolled at Georgia State University majoring in Exploratory Nursing working towards my Bachelors degree to become a Pediatric nurse! I thank God everyday for putting me in the position Im in and my parents for pushing me so hard and raising to become the young lady I am today. Being 16 and walking on one of the biggest colleges in the world is a very big obstacle in life that I am beyond thankful for. I stay motivated through my favorite saying She believed she could, so she did! Anything you vision yourself doing, put in the work and dedication and your visions will turn from dreams into reality.
