Lael Ngangmeni was recognized for studying abroad
I took part in a 6-week study abroad program in Peru. In addition to Spanish classes focused on general conversation and medical terms, the program offered first-hand observation of Peruvian physicians in Ecela's partner clinics and hospitals. The medical component of the program included shadowing doctors, attending guest lectures given by heads of medical departments in Cusco, and field trips to places that hold medical interest such as the mountains where practitioners still use medicinal herbs as primary forms of treatment. We also served patients in our two volunteering cites, Clinica San Juan de Dios and Misineras de la Caridad de Madre Teresa de Calcuta, by assisting nuns and nurses.
