Laura Delaney, M.P.A.S.,PA-C, DFAAPA

Laura worked as a registered nurse for 18 years at Blank Childrens Hospital in Des Moines in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit as a neonatal transport nurse. Her nursing education was received from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1982. One fun fact- she was in the delivery room and helped with the septuplets in 1997. She graduated from Des Moines Universitys PA Program in 1999 with a bachelors degree in physician assistant studies. Then completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2009. As a PA, she worked in the ER part-time for 12 years and full-time in general pediatrics for 10 years. For the past 16 years Laura has been faculty at Des Moines University and currently is the Director of Clinical Education for the PA Program. Laura continues to work in a peds clinic in Ankeny one day a week. Before COVID changed life as we knew it, Laura worked closely with the Global Health department at DMU and traveled with students on many different service-learning trips over the years: to Mali, Africa, South Africa, Honduras, St. Lucia, Dominican Republic, Belize, and Haiti. Other hats she wears wife, mother of three grown sons, grandmother to seven granddaughters and one grandson. She is grateful to have them all in Iowa; they fill up much of their free time. Gardening and fishing in warmer weather are a couple of hobbies she squeezes in.
