Delta Phi Alpha - National German Honors Society, Member Inducted into the Delta Phi Alpha National German Honors Society at Drew University, Madison, New Jersey, USA. The National German Honor Society recognizes excellence in German studies and promotes higher scholarships for university students.

May 2020 - As part of Drew University's 2019-20 end-of-year honors, Leos Malec from Cesky Brod, was awarded the Norman Guy Prize in Speech. The award is given annually to the student who has demonstrated distinction in public speaking. Winner of the Annual 2020 Norman Guy Speech Contest at Drew University Presented a 10-minute speech about how & what the USA can learn from the Czech Republic's response to the coronavirus pandemic Placed first and was awarded 300 USD Judges were from community members with speaking expertise, e.g; lawyers, theatre professionals, ministers, and University staff and professors The prize money was generously donated by the Family of Ralph Porzio (CLA 38), in memory of Norman Guy, former Drew faculty member

Awarded to Drew University students with a 3.6 GPA or higher.

Co-founded the International Student Identity/Affinity Community Advisory Group as part of the Drew Launch program Recruited by the experiential education specialist at INTO Drew University, Max Zhang, as an assistant, to coordinate meetings for the Launch International Student Identity/Affinity Community, send out emails to student leaders and student clubs on campus, assemble a group of international students to serve as the advisory group for this community of 400+ international students. Work closely with the associate provost for immersive learning & career design, Daniel Pascoe, and Max Zhang, to help all international students excel at Drew University, provide/assist with career development, networking, and opportunities on/off-campus Improve the well-being and opportunities for international students at Drew University as well as accommodate any concerns and complaints from the international student body Facilitate and schedule all advisory board meetings, play a key role as a middleman between the Drew administration board and the international student body Co-work with ten other international students who are part of the advisory board

During the course of 9 days, chosen Drew University students visited the state of Kentucky in Harlan County, where they participated in an environmental clean-up. We were planting new trees, collecting trash, helping in the homeless shelters, building new biking trails and helping the local community.

The mission of this organization is to educate and promote the awareness of German culture, language, and traditions within the Drew University Community. Controlled the club's money, its collection, and disbursement. Prepared the club's budget, presented it to the board for approval and ensured that club activities adhered to the budget. Maintained accurate financial records throughout the year to be reviewed at any time by members, other officers, or administration. Transacted business through a bank or school account. Informed the club of its financial strengths and weaknesses. Understood and abided by the school and club policies regarding student financial accounts relating to school organizations.
