Lily Summey is from Church Hill, Tennessee. She is a Tennessee Tech University graduate with a bachelors degree in Instrumental Music Education. She is a former member of several on-campus ensembles, including marching band, symphonic band, choir, flute choir, and wind ensemble. Additionally, she is a former member of the Volunteer High School Marching Band, where she was a flutist for two years and a drum major for two years. She completed her residency at White County Middle School with Dr. Brian Amaral and at Capshaw Elementary School with Ms. Clarissa Miller. She is currently the Director of Bands at Church Hill Middle School.

Falcons Marching Band

I was in the VHS marching band throughout high school. During my last two years, I served as a drum major. This group performed for football games and competed in BOA competitions.

I was in the jazz band for three years during high school. I played the piano as well as auxiliary percussion instruments, including the bongos and cowbell. This group performed during band concerts and fundraising events.

I was in the GEMB for four years, including the lecture-style class during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. For her final two years, she served as the flute and piccolo section leader.

Work Experience

Band Director at Hawkins County School District

I am currently the band director at Church Hill Middle School. I teach grades 5-8. As part of my role, I plan and carry out concerts each semester as well as lead the band at football games.

June 2024 - Present

Patient Transporter at Ballad

As a patient transporter, it was my responsibility to transport patients to and from testing areas, rooms, and procedures. It was my responsibility to ensure they arrived to locations on time and safely. As part of my duties, I had to maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations.

Woodwind Instructor at Hawkins County School District

I was the Woodwind Instructor for the Volunteer High School Marching Band. As part of this role, I primarily taught the woodwind family during music rehearsal. Additionally, I was a marching tech for the entire band.
