Dr. Malek Ibrahim has eleven years of experience in chemical process design from his career in industry and academia including his latest position as an R&D Scientist II at Honeywell UOP, located in Des Plaines, Illinois. Dr. Maleks research interests focus on integrating catalyst design and flow chemistry capabilities to enable challenging chemical transformations including C-N bond formation and green hydrogen production. He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2018 working with Prof. Scott Denmark on the development of low temperature Water-Gas Shift applications in organic synthesis. He also did a one-year postdoctoral research at North Carolina State University where he developed novel flow chemistry applications for rapid thermal and photocatalytic reactions. Dr. Malek received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University in 2010. He was awarded the Dow Fellowship and the 3M Fellowship during his PhD, and his academic research was supported by the National Science Foundation, BP, and Eastman Chemicals. Dr. Malek has five patents and several peer reviewed publications and is a member of the ACS, AICHE, Catalysis Club of Chicago, and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
