Marisa serves as a full-time student at Augustana College who majors in Communication Sciences & Disorders with a music minor. Marisa has high campus involvement profile very involved with the Music Department at Augustana College and volunteering with the community around her. She performs piccolo and flute in both the Augustana Symphonic Band and Augustana Symphony Orchestra. She works on campus for the music department as a music ambassador and as an office worker, being in assistance to the department and providing help with scholarship and recruitment processes. She is a recognized student on the deans list and has studied abroad to Japan and Ireland. In spare time, Marisa enjoys volunteering at multiple organizations around the community such as food drives, Quad City Children's Therapy Center, Quad City Botanical Center, and SBC's Music Academy.
Marisa is a motivated, enthusiastic, dedicated individual looking to help those affected by speech, language, and hearing disorders. After earning her bachelor degree in communication sciences and disorders, Marisa plans to attend graduate school to receive her Masters in speech-pathology and continue to serve the community around her while furthering her studies with music.
Since 1874, The Augustana Symphonic Band performs music of the highest artistic quality written for the wind band. Graduates may be found in the most prestigious professional,community ensembles, & graduate programs. Membership in the Symphonic Band provides the most dedicated wind musicians to continue their musical growth in a challenging & supportive environment. Annual concert tours alternate between national itineraries across the U.S. and international travel.
The Augustana Symphony Orchestra, a full-size orchestra of approximately 85 members, has an active and diverse performing schedule throughout the year. The orchestra typically presents three major concerts each year, performing works form Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, to Debussy, Stravinsky, Mahler and Larsen. Over a four-year undergraduate tenure, a member of the Augustana Orchestra will have been exposed to a wide variety of literature.
