Nicholas Blake

During my senior year, I was awarded the House 2 Senior of the Year award, as my teachers felt that of all the House 2 seniors, I had put the most effort into being an authentic, kind, and persistent student. I was dumbfounded when this was announced, but it meant the world to me that my teachers believed I deserved any sort of recognition whatsoever for the achievements I made during my senior year.

As the student representative for the DEI Committee, I'm committed to advocating on the behest of all subgroups of YCCC in order to promote a friendly and welcoming environment. DEI operates to make the community more inclusive and knowledgeable about our diverse cultures and pasts through community activities like book clubs, trivia, etc. We also fund several educational operations that engage students in the diverse culture of YCCC and the history of underrepresented communities.

The Student Government is in charge of distributing wealth and advertisement among the student body's recreational and academic activities. In the fall we organized several parties to engage students and help them feel more comfortable at YCCC. As well, we hosted several informational tables that informed our fellow students on how, where, and why to vote, and how and where to sign up for their spring courses. I was elected to the prestigious Secretary position of YCCC's Student Government board. As the secretary, my roles include noting the events, votes, and procedures of each and every Student Government meeting. As a member of the Student Government, we delegate to decide what activities, festivities, social events, and academic events receive social attention and student-allowed funding. We organize and direct many social gatherings such as holiday parties, but also assemble informational panels such as voting tables that educate students on how they can vote and what they can vote for.

I organized Noble High School's first student-directed writing club. Along with assistance from my wondrous House 2 English teacher, the other students and I created a safe space for writers to come and share their minds and art, and seek inspiration to start new work/projects.
